HANS PUCKET Twin brothers Oli and Callum and musical polymath Jono Nott (ONONO, BROODS) make articulate, melodic pop music. Taking Oli's introspective and off-kilter lyrics and melodies, the band breaks them into lil' bits, adds extra dimensions, and a dash of dancey vibes. It's a real spicy sandwich.

NIISA The mighty throne growled and there were five thunders that flew into the East. And the eagle spake and cried aloud: Come away from the house of death! Come away! For I have prepared a place for you. Move therefore, and show yourselves! Unveil the mysteries of your creation. And they are the deathless ones who ride the whirlwinds. Three of the saddest emos in NZ made a blackmetal/gunge/doom/sludge/noise/idk band; When they come together, they go to their darkest depths and show you what hateful sounds echo there.

TOTEMS Auckland based producer Totems makes dense, multi-layered tunes that draw on a wide range of influence, ranging from happy hardcore and jungle, to ambient and drone. His live sets can vary drastically, but this one will lean more toward the ambient side of things.

K2K After first coming to the attention of many off the back of attending the 2015 Red Bull Music Academy, and subsequent involvement in RBMA Radio, her work places her alongside a handful of producers and DJs driving the re-emergence of House & Techno throughout New Zealand. Following a string of self released works uploaded on soundcloud, 2017 saw K2K release her debut EP Sugar through local label MARGINS. They have previously released music from New Zealand producers Borrowed CS, Sandboards, Mongo Skanko and Leo G Clark, amongst others.  K2K has also established herself as a DJ to watch, secured recent international support sets for Gerd Janson and Kevin Saunderson, and featured at Low Hum NYE and Laneway festival in Auckland over recent summers.  K2K is now working on a new record label and club night called Night Pottery in Auckland with Hugo Jay and DJ Kush Boogie (all formerly of Inky Waves). Expect more events and new music (both solo and collaborative) in 2018.

MISS JUNE Miss June is a 4-piece punk rock band quickly becoming known for their viscerally destructive live performances and extensive DIY touring. Described as "monstrous sections of noise/punk that suggests some unholy union between Sonic Youth and Le Tigre. Abrasive, startling, and brilliant" their sound sets a unique tone combining melodic hooks with abrasive euphony. Having toured with the likes of Foo Fighters, Shonen Knife and Shellac, off the back of a 10 minute long EP, Miss June will be the next band on the "wish you knew them before everyone did" list.

PEACH MILK It took nearly five years for Peach Milk to perfect her debut EP Finally, and about five days for it to establish itself as one of the best electronic works in recent NZ memory. Since her debut performance at Chronophonium 2016, Peach Milk (aka Madison Eve) has been conducting powerful dream-house witchcraft with her synthesizers in every corner of the city. If you haven't seen her yet, you've almost definitely heard her. Photo: Frances Carter

URSULA LE SIN Ursula Le Sin spends their time traversing the sparkly corners of our universe. In an attempt to quiet the mind and feel from the heart, they seek to create dance music that is spooky, soaring and adorable. Incorporating electro rhythms, groove baselines and reverberated bells, they inhabit the intersection of space shuttle lounge and meteorite shower techno.

WAX CHATTELS New Zealand post-punk trio Wax Chattels make guitar-less guitar music. Based in Auckland, the group emerged from the K’Road music scene when former jazz school classmates Peter and Amanda reunited after living in Tokyo and Dublin respectively. They recruited powerhouse drummer and long-time friend Tom shortly after, with the goal of making confrontational, punishing music. The group has just returned from touring in Asia, building a cult following in alternative scenes in Japan, China and Taiwan. Likened by audiences to Sonic Youth, Joy Division and A Place to Bury Strangers, Wax Chattels are visceral and need to be experienced live.
